The highly anticipated upcoming Elden Ring expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree, has apparently leaked as part of a Sony backend error. The stuff-up also included another massive leak for Destiny 2: The Final Shape weeks before launch, though new reports claim that some PS5 players have also managed to access the Elden Ring DLC as well.
The report comes from a new Reddit thread covering the recent Destiny 2: The Final Shape leak, which saw some players jumping into the DLC much earlier than anticipated due to a streaming exploit that allowed users to easily access the locked content by forcing their PS5 to update to a later build. As a result, it would download pre-released content, which is how The Final Shape was supposedly accessed alongside Shadow of the Erdtree.
Some users are already downloading some test builds though there are reports of Sony swiftly rectifying the issue as of writing. That hasn’t stopped some from already gaining access to the DLC though, so expect some chaos to unfold over the next few weeks on social media, should more users catch wind of the developing events.
It goes without saying but you can also expect plenty of spoilers to hit the internet too, if this leak turns out to be far more damaging than we think. Shadow of the Erdtree is packed with story content that will undoubtedly ruin some surprises, including entire boss fights and the ending if you were to accidentally stumble upon one of the leaks online. We’ll keep you updated and report back if we see leaks begin to appear online but we’re keeping a close eye on it.
