How to Get The Dragon-Hunter’s Great Katana in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree

Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree How to Get Dragon Hunter's Great Katana

The Dragon Hunter’s Great Katana can be found fairly early in the DLC in the Gravesite Plain. Start at the Pillar Path Waypoint site of grace and head southwest until you reach an dirt path leading to an opening with several headless dragon statues. Eventually you’ll get to the Dragon’s Pit.

Make your way through the Dragon’s Pit until you reach the boss at the end of the area, the Ancient Dragon-Man. As long as you can avoid his numerous fire attacks, the fight is fairly straight-forward and should be easy enough to overcome. He’s weak to frostbite and bleed so make sure you pack a good build for taking care of him. Once you’ve defeated the Ancient Dragon-Man, you’ll acquire the Dragon Hunter’s Great Katana, complete with its own unique moveset.

The description for the weapon reads:

“Great katana with spines of gravel stone along its blade, wielded by the Ancient Dragon-Man of the Dragon’s Pit. Has an anti-dragon effect. Formerly a Dragon Communion warrior, the Ancient Dragon-Man was once arbiter of those worthy to devour the Dreaded One.”

The Dragon Hunter’s Great Katana comes equipped with the weapon skill Dragonwound Slash (at 18 FP per use) and can be upgraded using Somber Smithing Stones. It scales primarily with Dexterity with a little bit of Strength to wield. Sadly it can’t be enchanted or fused with Ashes of War, but on its own, it’s a lethal weapon that fares very well against dragon enemies. Its passive effect also causes blood loss buildup (55), making it an ideal weapon for bleed builds.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is now available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
