Director Eli Roth has signed to direct Gearbox Software’s Borderlands movie. He will be joining the likes of writer Craig Mazin and producers Avi and Ari Arad. The film has been in the works since 2015 at Lionsgate Motion Picture Group but has suffered numerous delays with directors jumping ship and other in-house issues.

According to Deadline, Eli looks forward to bringing his own energy, ideas and vision to the fun, wild and endlessly creative world of Borderlands. Lionsgate Motion Picture Group president Nathan Kahane stated;
[perfectpullquote align=”full” bordertop=”false” cite=”” link=”” color=”#CB6035″ class=”” size=”21″]with Eli’s vision and Craig’s screenplay, we believe we have cracked the code on bringing the anarchic world of Borderlands to the big screen in a big way that will be a fresh, compelling and cinematic event for moviegoers and fans of the game.” Gearbox founder Randy Pitchford is also an executive producer on the film, and Roth calls him and others at Gearbox “incredibly supportive of my ideas.”[/perfectpullquote]
