Elon Musk wants to get into video game development. The Tesla man says he is currently working on plans to open a video game studio under his artificial intelligence label xAI. The studio will use AI to develop games which directly counter what Musk is the current “ideological standpoint” of current game studios.
Musk has a few issues with the current video game studios. His belief is that game developers and game journalism have been “ideologically captured”. He says gamers have generally rejected “posers” and as it stands, too many game studios are owned by massive corporations. He claims this new xAI label will “make games great again” using AI.
In another post on X, Musk called out Microsoft and its CEO Satya Nadella for supposedly mandating HR to hire a specific demographic of people under the Microsoft Gaming Division. This is after another user claimed that Microsoft was only allowed to hire “queer and black” staff to work under these gaming labels. However, there’s no direct proof of this and the series of posts are simply hearsay at this time.
Musk says that this hiring practice is “illegal”. This post was, of course, followed up by thousands of accounts cheering him on.
Gaming has generally disregarded AI in development. Studios that have been found to use AI in games have been shunned by gamers and called out for being unethical. Various studios have tried to adopt AI to some degree but at the moment, the fruits of these investments have yet to be seen.
