Enotria: The Last Song is expected to launch on PC and PS5 this month. The game is planned for an Xbox release sometime soon but it won’t take place at the same time as the other two platforms. Developer Jyamma Games already confirmed the game’s delay in March this year saying the port would need a bit more time to complete. However, the delay might be pushed up even more due to the lack of support from Xbox when it comes to game certification and the store.
While players have immediately jumped on the “Sony paid them” and “it is because of the Xbox Series S” train, that isn’t actually the case. Last night in a series of posts, the studio CEO called out the Xbox developer service for its abysmal support in getting the game ready for launch on the platform.
Jacky Greco says that he spent a lot of money porting Enotria: The Last Song to Xbox but when asked for help with the game’s certification on the platform, Microsoft ignored them. So much so that the Xbox port for Enotria: The Last Song is done. The game needs to go through certification first which requires internal testing at Microsoft. This has proven to be a struggle.
Greco followed up by saying that Xbox don’t care about Enotria and they don’t care about you:
“You can ask Xbox why they haven’t answered us for 2 months. Obviously they don’t care about Enotria and they don’t care about you. […] The context is open a store page and submission [sic], we’ve Xbox Series X|S version ready, but we can’t proceed with submission and release, I spent a lot of money for porting and they decided to ignore us.”
Another dev says the certification could take up to two months now given the delay. They claim there’s a clear lack of communication at Xbox and this has caused major delays with the game.
Given Xbox’s strong stance on indie development in the past, this is sad to see. Microsoft boasted of supporting developers with its ID@Xbox initiative which usually came to the party in situations like these. However, given the recent job cuts at the company, we don’t know how functional this team is anymore.
Anyway, Enotria: The Last Song is set to launch on 19 September for PS5 and PC. There is a playable demo on both available too. Watch the trailer below.
