Yesterday, Epic released a Fortnite Gunner pet and it looks extremely similar to Bonesy, a reward from the season six Battle Pass. The two pets look so similar with only a slight reskin and a little logo on the Fortnite Gunner pet scarf. Fans became outraged that Epic is now selling this Fortnite Gunner pet for 1000 V-Bucks, which is roughly R150. That’s a bit more than an entire Battle Pass.

This just crossed a line for many Fortnite players, as Battle Pass rewards are supposed to be exclusive and never get sold on the store. Now, Epic has decided to pull the Fortnite Gunner pet from sale and they will also be removing it entirely from the game. Epic’s response to this controversy reads:
We should not have released the Gunner Pet and apologise for doing so. Within the next couple of days, all purchases of Gunner will be refunded for the full amount of 1000 V-bucks as well as an additional 200 V-bucks and the Pet will be removed from the Locker.
Anyone who purchased Gunner and refunds it prior to this make-good will instead receive 200 V-bucks and an additional refund token that can be put towards any eligible items that were purchased within the past 30 days.
Reddit user PhantomRacer32 created a comparison image between the Fortnite Gunner pet and Bonesy and as you can see below, they are extremely similar, to say the least.
This is definitely going too far if you ask me and thankfully, Epic did make the right choice to remove the Fortnite Gunner pet from sale.
