Epic Showcases Unreal Engine 5 Running on PS5 and it Looks Superb

As part of today’s Summer Games Fest announcement, Epic showcased their latest Unreal Engine 5 running on the PlayStation 5 for the first time and it was everything we have been waiting to see. The demo showcased a PS5 demo running in real-time as the player explored ruins and interacted with a range of objects. In addition, Epic described everything that was going on during the demo in the engine and how it was working together to deliver the realistic lighting and objects.

Much of the demo is complicated to understand as the technical aspects of the engine demonstrated are of no use to the average gamer. However, the real treat is seeing the demo in action and how the Unreal Engine 5 works to create a gorgeous game world worth exploring.

Unreal Engine 5 PS5 Xbox Series X

The Unreal Engine 5 will make use of a few key new features that you will see in next-gen PS5 and Xbox Series X games. This includes its Lumen global illumination solution and Nanite virtualized micro polygon geometry. In addition, the demo also showcases existing engine systems such as Chaos physics and destruction, Niagara VFX, convolution reverb, and ambisonics rendering.

While the Unreal Engine 4.25 support PS5 and Xbox Series X, the true power of the hardware will be put to the test on the Unreal Engine 5 when it launches next year. This is a small glimpse of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X visuals.
