EpicDB Launches With List of Unannounced and Leaked Games – Report [UPDATE]

EpicDB, a new equivalent of SteamDB, recently launched with a laundry list of unannounced and leaked games under codenames. Mentioned on the list is projects like Final Fantasy 9 Remake, a new Turok game, new content for Final Fantasy XVI and others. However, the inclusion of a few titles has raised some red flags about the legitimacy of the new site’s listings.

UPDATE: Epic Games has provided us with a response to the recent EpicDB listings leak which reads, “We released an update tonight so third-party tools can’t surface any new unpublished product titles from the Epic Games Store catalog.” Original story follows.

The news gained traction after Twitter/X user Wario64 reported on the new EpicDB database which seemingly lists several unannounced projects under codenames like Momo (which is Final Fantasy 9 Remake) and Utah (The Last of Us Part 2), among others. A leak like this would be massive and potentially damaging to all parties and publishers involved, though as many have begun pointing out, there are some discrepencies that bring into question the legitimacy of what we’re seeing.

For example, users began digging through the database to uncover what else could potentially be listed. As it turns out, EpicDB also lists projects that ring a lot of alarm bells. Bloodborne Remake and Burnout were mentioned but for the more outlandish leaks, it also lists Fortnite 2 and Elden Ring 2.

Of course, we recommend taking this all with a very heavy grain of salt. Some have theorised that EpicDB allowed for users to edit pages which led to plenty of false listings. On the off-chance that this is real, we might be looking at one of the biggest leaks in video game history, though there are also plenty of reasons to question it too. While titles like Final Fantasy 9 Remake have long been rumoured to be in development – and it’s likely true – there’s no evidence for the rest of the bolder listings.
