E3 2020 E3 2021 ESA Cancelled Coronavirus

ESA Claims E3 2020 Planning is Moving Ahead at “Full Speed” Despite Coronavirus Threat

The ESA says E3 2020 is still planned to proceed in June despite the threat surrounding the Coronavirus (COVID-19). The Entertainment Software Association issues a new statement regarding the upcoming event saying they are “monitoring and evaluating the situation daily.”

While the ESA continues to plan for a safe and successful E3 show June 9-11, 2020 — we are monitoring and evaluating the situation daily.”[/perfectpullquote]

E3 2020 is still a couple of months away so hopefully, things have calmed down by then. With that being said, the ESA is still holding onto the idea that the event will take place and be a success. San Francisco recently cancelled the annual Game Developers Conference and the Mobile World Congress was also cancelled last month due to the COVID-19.

E3 sees over 60k people attend the expo every year which is an issue at the moment especially given the fact that Los Angeles just declared a state of emergency over COVID-19 concerns. The ESA claim they will look into measures to further reduce health risks at the show instead of cancelling the event. E3 2020 planning is moving ahead at “full speed” according to the ESA.

[perfectpullquote align=”full” bordertop=”false” cite=”” link=”” color=”#0CCBFF” class=”” size=”21″]“Our E3 team and partners continue to monitor COVID-19 via the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO). We are actively assessing the latest information and will continue to develop measures to further reduce health risks at the show.” [/perfectpullquote]

We understand it is counterproductive to be paranoid about the COVID-19 virus but to even consider having an event with 60k people in attendance is a bit delusional. If the Coronavirus does not stop spreading in the US, let us hope the ESA ends up postponing E3 2020.
