Loadshedding has remained a looming threat for South Africa for several months now and the last time it was implemented by Eskom was on 7 November. Now, loadshedding has made an unwelcome return, putting gaming devices or plans for some gaming sessions in danger. Yesterday, on 5 December 2019, loadshedding returned and Eskom just announced that it will continue today and into the weekend.

We’ve heard it all before and yesterday, Eskom gave the following reasons for the prolonged Stage 2 loadshedding that only ended at 06:00 today, due to “unplanned breakdowns”, critically low water levels and the need to manage diesel reserves. That’s why Eskom will implement Stage 2 loadshedding again today (6 December) at 09:00 and it will last until Saturday, 7 December at 06:00.
Date: 6 December 2019
Stage 2 loadshedding will continue today from 09:00 until 06:00 on Saturday, 7 December 2019

It is something us gamings in South Africa just have to deal with as we can’t really do anything about it. What we can do is to prepare ourselves for the worst and charge our mobile gaming devices. Check out our handy “Gamer’s guide to loadshedding” if you need some help with working around Stage 2 loadshedding.
As always, remember to check your area’s schedule and turn off gaming equipment around 15 minutes before loadshedding starts. Unplug your devices just in case they have trouble turning the power back on, which Eskom explained yesterday can take up to 30 minutes longer than the scheduled time.
