Season 3 of Euphoria, the hit HBO television series starring Zendaya, will finally begin filming in January 2025. The first season debuted in 2019 and followed a group of teenagers dealing with social anxieties, sex, drugs, family drama and growing pains. A second season followed in 2022, three years after the first season.
HBO took to Twitter/X to announce that season 3 of Euphoria will officially begin filming in January 2025 after a very long wait. The company also confirmed that the main cast is set to return including Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Jacob Elordi and Sydney Sweeney – many of which have since gone on to create solid portfolios starring in other movies and television shows, including Elordi who had another breakout role with 2023’s movie, Saltburn.
Francesca Orsi, executive vice president of HBO programming and the head of HBO drama series and films, released a statement saying:
“I am thrilled that we are ready to begin production on Euphoria in January. We could not be happier with our creative partnership with Sam [Levinson] and this incredible cast. We look forward to bringing this new season of Euphoria to life for the fans.”
Showrunner Sam Levinson worked with HBO last year on the limited series The Idol, starring Lily-Rose Depp and The Weeknd. It garnered negative reviews across the board from critics and fans. Hopefully with the third season of Euphoria, Levinson can reign in on what made the first two seasons so popular in the first place.

One idea passed by HBO was to include a five-year time jump in the series. Season 2 ended with most of the main cast closing the chapter on their lives in high school, so there’s an opportunity to jump ahead a few years in the story.
