Everspace 2, the open-world space shooter was meant to arrive in December but the developers at Rockfish Games decided to delay the game into January 2021. The game has had a rather bumpy development road even after it raked in close to $620,000 during its Kickstarter campaign in late 2019. It was delayed once due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and again in December due to Cyberpunk 2077 getting in the way.

Thankfully, January 2021 is a quiet month when it comes to video game releases. Sure, we have Hitman III and others but now that Cyberpunk 2077 is out of the way, developer Rockfish can release Everspace 2 on 18 January 2021 without any problems. At first, Everspace 2 will release on Steam and GOG in early access. According to the developer, the game will have at least 25 hours of gameplay. Rockfish said that the early access build will include the core gameplay mechanics and English voice acting.
The game will include the first 12 hours of the campaign and several side missions which all add up to about 25 hours of gameplay. Keep in mind that Everspace 2 is far from complete. Rockfish says that in the main game players will be able to explore more star systems apart from the two included in the early access build.

On top of the two star systems Everspace 2 pilots will be able to explore in Early Access at launch, we plan to have four to six more as well as several additional player ship subclasses beyond the Interceptor, Sentinel, Striker, Gunship, and Scout at launch, to be gradually added on a quarterly basis. In the final game, players will also be able to enjoy twice as much story content plus lots of worthwhile endgame activities.”[/perfectpullquote]
You can now pre-order Everspace 2 on Steam Early Access and GOG Games in Development for $40/£32/€38. Local pricing has not been released yet. Check out the latest trailer down below.
