Every Big Marvel Announcement From SDCC

San Diego Comic-Con took place over the past weekend and if you missed any news, Marvel brought some exciting announcements you should know about. Marvel touched on Phase 5 and Phase 6 MCU content while confirming that the studio is working on the collection of movies and TV shows and announcing what content will be included in the following phases.

Marvel also shared new details on how the studio plans on tackling upcoming content releases and gave us some insight into the release windows for each upcoming film and show. Here are all the biggest announcements from Marvel at San Diego Comic-Con.

Black Panther Ends Phase 4

Marvel announced that Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will release in November and will also act as the final movie in the Phase 4 content sleight. Kevin Feige announced that Marvel has been dropping many clues into the end of Phase 4 which began back with WandaVision. While we don’t know how Phase 4 plans on ending at this point, Feige says Marvel will be more direct with the plan and ending in the coming months. He said:

“As we’re nearing the end of Phase 4, I think people will start to see where this next saga is going. I think there have been many clues already, that are at least apparent to me, of where this whole saga is going. But we’ll be a little more direct about that in the coming months, to set a plan, so audiences who want to see the bigger picture can see a tiny, tiny, tiny bit more of the roadmap.”

Phase 5 Confirmed With New Content

Now that we know Phase 4 is ending, Marvel shared the news on the next phase of the MCU and also teased some new characters entering the mix. We already knew that Blade and Echo were coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe but the studio also confirmed a Thunderbolts movie was in the works and planned to release in July 2024. Marvel also confirmed that Daredevil will release on Disney+ in a new 18-episode format. At the moment, the Marvel Phase 5 content looks like this:

Phase 6 Packs Secret Movies and Shows

While Marvel has fully announced its Phase 5 lineup, Phase 6, on the other hand, isn’t as set in stone yet. However, the studio did confirm that Phase 6 will start with a Fantastic Four movie on 8 November 2024. Phase 6 will then see two new Avengers movies released in 2025. The first is called Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and the second is Avengers: Secret Wars on 7 November 2025. During Phase 6, expect other movies and shows between November 2024 and November 225. Marvel has yet to confirm the lineup but the studio left it empty with placeholders.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Gets a Trailer

The SDCC panels were packed full of reveals but Marvel didn’t leave the show without new trailers. The studio released the first trailer for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Watch it down below:

I am Groot trailer and More

Marvel also shared a few tidbits on other content. The company released the first trailer for the Disney+ show I am Groot. The 5 episode series will debut on 10 August on Disney+

Marvel also confirmed that Spider-Man: Freshman Year, the upcoming Disney+ animated show will release in 2024. The company shared the first artwork for the show and confirmed, that although it hasn’t even been released yet, it will get a second season called Spider-Man: Sophomore Year.

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law got a new trailer too. The trailer proves why spandex is your best friend.

Last but not least, Marvel announced that What If…? Season 2 will also arrive on Disney+ in the coming months. The studio didn’t share any exact dates with us yet.
