Fallout 4 Next-Gen Update the Good Bad Ugly

Fallout 4 to Add New Graphics Options in Next Update

Bethesda Game Studios is working on a new patch for Fallout 4 in light of its recent next-gen update. The patch aims to address graphical issues found in the next-gen update as well as add new graphics options. The update will roll out later today on PlayStation, Xbox and PC platforms.

“On Monday, May 13 we will be updating Fallout 4 on all platforms,” said Bethesda Game Studios on social media. “This update will include new options for graphics and performance settings as well as further fixes and improvements.”

Fallout 4‘s next-gen update arrived last month to a lukewarm reception. Fans criticised the update’s lack of graphical settings, shoddy implementation of widescreen support and frequent game crashes. More infuriatingly, the update broke a lot of mods (the same thing happened to Skyrim last year), meaning modders had to scramble to make their mods and projects compatible with the new code. As of writing, many popular mods still haven’t been updated.

The team behind Fallout London, one of the biggest and most ambitious mods being worked on in Fallout 4, previously said that the next-gen update “blindsided” them and forced them to delay the project. The team hasn’t announced a new release date yet.
