Microsoft can’t seem to get it right. The company just recently rolled out its new Xbox Dashboard which came with a shiny new revamped home screen but fans absolutely hate it again. While Xbox has made strides to improve the free screen space on the home screen and declutter the experience, the company hasn’t addressed another major issue – the adverts.
Over on Reddit, Xbox owners are complaining about the unwanted blocks and areas on the Xbox home screen. More specifically, users are hating on the “Most Played Games” section. Not because it shows you what games you’re playing the most but because it shows what other people are playing the most.

Of course, this means this block isn’t a personalised experience but rather an advert for the most-played games. It, of course, includes the usual Fortnite, Call of Duty, Roblox and GTA V.
While there’s no doubt that these games are indeed the most-played games on Xbox, users aren’t happy that “their” home screen shows games that they aren’t playing. Some users claim they don’t even own the games on the list and that Microsoft wants this section to act as a huge banner to download the titles.
One user also points out that other blocks, which are currently used to advertise Xbox Game Pass and the library of games on the service, don’t go away if you already subscribe to the package. They make a valid point here. Microsoft shouldn’t advertise Game Pass to Game Pass subscribers. Most users agree that the New Releases page is the only way they check what is new.
Overall, the sentiment is quite negative. Many Xbox owners keep pushing that Microsoft should allow a customizable home screen. Where you can delete blocks and add your own personalized layout to the system. This is something which is fed back to the company during each Insider test. However, it doesn’t seem like it will ever happen.
