Fantastic Four Possibly Teased in Spider-Man: Far From Home

Spider-Man: Far From Home swung into cinemas last week and it is definitely a must-watch for all Spidey and Marvel fans out there. The film is technically the last of the MCU phase 3 before phase 4 kicks off and it does set up the future of the MCU in some very significant ways with its mid and post-credit scenes. During the film, more of the MCU’s future might have been teased in the form of Marvel’s first family, the Fantastic Four.

As spotted by ComicBook.com, there is a potential tease (or Easter Egg) referencing the Fantastic Four near the end of the film. Basically, the Avengers Tower (previously known as Stark Tower) is under new ownership and contruction is being done on the building.

On the fence of the building, this line appears “We can’t wait to show you what comes next” and the sentence is broken up “1,” a “2,” a “3,” and a “?”. The question mark is where the four is supposed to be and instantly, my mind jumps to Fantastic Four as it could be that they now own the building and will rename it to the “Baxter Building” as that is their headquarters in the comics.

Interestingly, Kevin Feige, the Marvel Studios president, told ComicBook.com the following when asked about who bought the Avengers Tower:

Fan speculation and an Easter Egg like this one is what makes the MCU so exciting for fans if you ask me. Sure, Fantastic Four has not been confirmed and Mr Feige even said a while back that IPs bought from Fox by Disney (X-Men, Fantastic Four, etc) wouldn’t be in the phase 4 plans. Speaking of which, the missing “4” could also be a tease to the MCU phase 4.

However, that could all be misdirection and from the post-credit scenes, I believe that Annihilus will be the next big bad in the MCU. Want to take a guess where Annihilus first appeared in the comics? Well, its Fantastic Four Annual #6, released in November 1968…
