Far Cry 6 Audio Director Travelled 7000km to Capture the Sounds of Yara

The Far Cry series has been to a number of places in the past. Be it the sandy forests of Africa, the blue beaches of Papua New Guinea or the farmlands of America. The upcoming Far Cry 6 takes players to Yara which is a fictional island inspired by Cuba. In order to bring the world to life, Ubisoft sent their audio director to the country and he spent a lot of time recording and capturing the sounds of the land in order to deliver an authentic world.

According to the latest issue of PLAY Magazine, Far Cry 6 audio director, Eduardo Vaisman travelled around 7000km to capture the sounds of Cuba. He took two recording trips to the country and explored the island nation to record the sounds of the area. This includes birds, insects, ambient sounds and more.

By the sound of things, Far Cry 6 will be more alive than all previous games thanks to the deep level of detail obtained by Vaisman during his trips. According to the article, Vaisman travelled around the island nation looking for unique sounds that could only be found in Cuba. This includes exotic birds and insects. He also focused on recording the unique biomes found throughout the region.

I for one can’t wait to put my headset on, enable 3D audio on the PS5 and enjoy the sounds of the island as I blow things up. We recently covered a hands-on preview of Far Cry 6 where we played through four hours of the game. You can read our full preview here and watch the gameplay down below.
