The more we hear about Far Cry 6 the better the game sounds. We know the game is going to feature all the action we love from the series. We know the season pass focuses on the series’ past villains and we know there is going to be cute dogs to fight alongside us. But how big is the Far Cry 6 map and what can players expect to see while exploring the country of Yara.
Ubisoft recently shared a new video touching on the Far Cry 6 map in particular the size and the way the studio divided the island up. According to Lead Game Designer David Grivel, Far Cry 6 is an entire country on its own. This is mainly thanks to the game being set in Yara, a massive island that is divided into various biomes.

We know Ubisoft are masters at world creation and Far Cry 6 is not going to change that. Grivel says that Far Cry 6 is the biggest map they have ever created for a Far Cry game. Seeing that Yara is its own country, this also means that it needs to function like one. It has its own military infrastructures, ports, towns and even a massive capital city called Esperanza.
Ubisoft says that the capital city of Esperanza also functions as the home for the ruthless leader, Anton Castillo. Far Cry 6 also gives the player the freedom to explore and venture wherever they want from the start. However, doing so is at their own risk. For example, Esperanza is heavily guarded and players can go to the city if they want to. Don’t expect to survive the onslaught of military personal without decent gear though. The city is filled with heavily armed guards, tanks and helicopters that survey the area.
