FBC: Firebreak, the first-person shooter multiplayer spin-off of Control from Remedy Entertainment, will enter its closed technical test this weekend. The testing will mainly be conducted for matchmaking and balancing purposes. Players eager to participate in the closed technical test can sign up on Remedy’s website, though it’s not a guarantee that you’ll receive an invitation.
FBC: Firebreak (or Federal Bureau of Control: Firebreak) is set in the same universe as Remedy’s Control, taking place in the bureau itself following a series of strange supernatural events. The three-player co-op first-person shooter is Remedy’s attempt at breaking into the multiplayer market and if its skills at developing compelling single-player games are any indication, it could be a surprise hit if it takes off with players.
Players on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC can sign up for the upcoming closed technical test for FBC: Firebreak, which will run from 15-19 May. Head over to Remedy’s official website to sign up now.
The game’s description reads:
“FBC: Firebreak is a cooperative first-person shooter set within a mysterious federal agency under assault by otherworldly forces. As a years-long siege on the agency’s headquarters reaches its boiling point, only Firebreak— the Bureau’s most versatile unit—has the gear and the guts to plunge into the building’s strangest crises, restore order, contain the chaos, and fight to reclaim control.”
“Dive into the Federal Bureau of Control’s (FBC) unpredictable and extradimensional headquarters during its darkest—and strangest—hours,” it continues. “As one of the FBC’s fearless first responders, you and your team are on call to confront everything from reality-warping anomalies to otherworldly monsters… no matter the odds. Will you contain the chaos or finally lose control?”
FBC: Firebreak is set to launch on 17 June 2025 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. Meanwhile, Remedy Entertainment is also developing the sequel to Control which will be its next game.
