Square Enix has officially dated the upcoming Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis mobile game. The company says it will launch on 7 September for iOS and Android.
Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis brings together moments from other Final Fantasy VII titles, adds new chapters and lets players experience the journey of a young hero Sephiroth – a well-known antagonist from the original game.

Speaking of the original game, Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis has taken inspiration from the classic PlayStation title and features familiar block-style 3D art. This means characters look as if they have been taken directly from the PSOne classic. Of course, visually they have been upgraded too. Cloud has hands, for example.
Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis has been in development for some time already. The game was announced back in 2021 alongside the Final Fantasy VII battle royale game which shut down earlier this year.
Square Enix claims Ever Crisis is “another possibility for a remake” which gives us the idea that this mobile game might try to tell its own story and perhaps deviate from the original classic game. Let’s hope Square Enix isn’t overly complicating things now. It is already quite clear that Final Fantasy VII Remake and Rebirth are forgetting the original story in favour of their own.
