Sony and Square Enix have cooked up a playable demo of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth which is expected to launch soon after the special State of Play tomorrow morning.
If you missed it, Sony is hosting a State of Play themed exclusively around Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. The stream kicks off at 01:30 CAT (tomorrow morning 7 February) or on Tuesday at 6:30 PM ET / 3:30 PM ET / 11:30 PM GMT and it is expected to showcase 20 minutes of new gameplay for the RPG.
According to the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth demo listing, players will be able to play as either Cloud or Sephiroth in the preview to the full game. The demo is focused on the “Nibelheim episode”.
The Nibelheim episode is a major event in the Final Fantasy VII story. I won’t spoil what happens but if you have ever seen Sephiroth engulfed in flames (see below), that shot is taken from the chapter. It marked a major turning point for the villain and is one of the most iconic moments in gaming.
It is unclear exactly how the Nibelheim episode will focus on either Cloud or Sephiroth and whether or not the experience is drastically different depending on the character you choose. However, I can’t think of a better experience to have in a demo leading up to the main game.
Keep in mind that Sony has not officially announced the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth demo just yet. The trailer leaked before the State of Play. You can watch it down below:
PSN confirms that a Final Fantasy VII Rebirth demo is coming tomorrow (says it’s “out now” but I think the trailer was meant for tomorrow)
