Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Release Date New Trailer Square Enix

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Release Date Revealed With New Trailer

Square Enix has revealed that Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the second part in a planned trilogy of remakes for Final Fantasy VII, has an official release date of 29 February 2024 on PS5. The anticipated sequel closed off last night’s PlayStation State of Play showcase with a new trailer offering fans a look at some new gameplay, locations, characters, story details and much more.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will be a direct continuation of 2020’s Final Fantasy VII Remake as Cloud and the team venture beyond the walls of Midgar to track down Sephiroth. Along the way, they’ll also recruit a few newcomers such as Yuffie, who already had DLC dedicated to her in Intergrade, Cait Sith and Vincent Valentine – all of which were shown in the trailer to some degree. The trailer also shows off various familiar locations from the original game including big story moments that fans have been eagerly waiting for.

By far, the biggest bombshell of the trailer is the fact that the ending of Final Fantasy VII Remake, which showed Zack Fair surviving alongside Cloud in what’s seemingly another timeline, will continue in the sequel in some way. Zack is shown helping an injured Cloud into Midgar but the events surrounding his survival – and what it could mean for the rest of the game – is a mystery we’ll just have to unravel for ourselves in the full game.

Square Enix previously revealed that Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will not be coming to PS4 meaning it will launch on PS5 only, presumably as a timed exclusive like Remake. In light of the new trailer and release date, the company also released several statements from the development team including producer Yoshinori Kitase, director Naoki Hamaguchi and creative director Tetsuya Nomura which you can read right here.
