Final Fantasy Kingdom Hearts Square Enix Milestones

Final Fantasy VII Remake and Final Fantasy XVI Coming to Xbox – Latter Available Right Now

Last night during the Xbox Games Showcase, Square Enix officially announced that Final Fantasy VII Remake and Final Fantasy XVI would finally be coming to the Xbox platform after months of rumours and speculation. More specifically, Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, the “definitive” edition of the game which contains its Yuffie DLC, will be heading to Xbox Series X/S this winter, while Final Fantasy XVI is actually available right now.

Square Enix shadow dropped Final Fantasy XVI during the Xbox Games Showcase, revealing that it’s currently available to purchase on Xbox Series X/S. The standard edition of the game costs R1,149 while the Complete Edition, which includes all previously released DLC, costs R1,499. It arrives almost two years after initially releasing on PS5 and almost one year after its launch on PC.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, on the other hand, will launch on Xbox Series X/S later this year in winter and covers the base game as well as the DLC campaign titled Intermission that focuses on Yuffie’s side story. There’s no word yet if its sequel (and second part of the Remake trilogy), Rebirth, will launch on Xbox but we presume it won’t be long before we get an announcement.

The description for Intermission reads:

“The new episode featuring Yuffie is a brand-new adventure in the world of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade. Play as Wutai ninja Yuffie Kisaragi as she infiltrates Midgar and conspires with Avalanche HQ to steal the ultimate materia from the Shinra Electric Power Company.”

The Xbox Series X/S version of Final Fantasy VII Remake will launch this winter alongside the previously announced Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game, though Square Enix hasn’t announced a specific date yet. If this is any indication of the publisher’s commitment to making multiplatform releases going forward, the last part of the Remake trilogy won’t be exclusive to PlayStation and might be launched on more platforms. Check out everything else announced at the Xbox Games Showcase.
