Final Fantasy VII Remake Pre-Load Available Early

The physical version Final Fantasy VII Remake may be delayed in South African due to the COVID-19 pandemic but that does not mean Square Enix will be pushing back the digital release. In fact, the publisher and developer moved forward the Final Fantasy VII Remake pre-load date from 9 April 2020 to 3 April 2020 meaning you can start downloading your game a week earlier.

This change comes in light of Sony’s decision to decrease download speeds on the PlayStation Network to help reduce internet congestion around the world. The company announced last week that they would be reducing download speeds for PS4 consoles in an attempt to ease network congestion while everyone is at home either due to a country-wide lockdown or practising social distancing.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Square Enix Pre-load

Final Fantasy VII Remake is a hefty downloading coming in at close to 100GB. Launching the pre-load a day before will not give gamers enough time to download the game in time for the midnight launch. Luckily, users will be able to start their download on 3 April 2020 which will give them more than enough time to get the game installed in time.

Square Enix announced earlier this week that Final Fantasy VII Remake did indeed leak in some parts of the world earlier than expected. This was due to the lockdown and restrictions in place in certain countries. However, they have urged people to stay away from spoilers and those with early copies to not spoil the game for others. The publisher has no plans to release the digital version of the game early at this stage.

Final Fantasy VII Remake launches on 10 April 2020 for PS4 and the pre-load begins on 3 April 2020.
