Square Enix has shared new details on the upcoming launch of Final Fantasy XIV on Xbox. If you don’t remember, the MMORPG was announced for Xbox platforms a few months back. This being after the game was exclusive to PC and PlayStation platforms since its launch back in 2010.
Square Enix says the Xbox Series X/S open beta for Final Fantasy 14 will take place between mid-January to February next year. During this time, the studio will monitor player feedback and look for bugs and other issues.

We still don’t have a release date for the game on Xbox Series X/S just yet though. However, it will likely arrive with the upcoming Dawntrail expansion which is set to launch sometime in mid-2024. Square Enix will likely do a cross-platform launch for the game around that time. We could also perhaps see the Xbox Series X/S version launch before that. If the beta test goes well.
According to Xbox, the Series X version of Final Fantasy XIV will feature 4K visuals. Both the Series X and Series S will take advantage of faster load times and the enhanced visual upgrade set to launch with the Dawntrail expansion.
It will also come with the Expanded Free Trial. This trial lets players play play through the entire base game – A Realm Reborn, as well as the first two expansions including Heavenswards and Stormblood. You can also reach level 70. All of this can be done without any payment or game time purchase. However, you’ll need to subscribe after that.
Square Enix recently transitioned the entirety of Final Fantasy XIV into Duty Support. This means you can play through the entire main game and all the expansion content as a single-player experience with NPC party members.
