Final Fantasy XVI remains one of the most anticipated releases of the year from Square Enix. Ahead of the game’s launch next month on PS5, Game Informer has now debuted some striking new artwork as part of its monthly cover featuring protagonist Clive Rosfield and his younger brother, Joshua Rosfield, standing below their Eikons Ifrit and Phoenix, respectively.
Final Fantasy XVI will be the cover story of Game Informer Issue 356 and features interviews with Square Enix and Creative Business Unit III’s developers about the game’s combat, story, lore and more. The issue will come in two editions, each showing either Clive or Joshua on the front.

Final Fantasy XVI is the sixteenth mainline installment in the long-running Final Fantasy RPG series. The story will focus on warring kingdoms in the realm of Valisthea where special individuals called Dominants are able to harness the abilities of powerful summons called Eikons. Protagonist Clive Rosfield is one of the Dominants capable of using the power of Ifrit. Details about the story are still vague but we’re surely in for another epic adventure.
In related news, Final Fantasy XVI was banned in Saudi Arabia for reported depictions of “explicit” gay scenes. This has never officially been clarified outside of a leaker’s information. Additionally, those looking to get their hands on the Final Fantasy XVI Collector’s Edition will have to deal with annoying scalpers who have taken to eBay to resell the products at a marked up price. As for what you can expect to get in each edition of the game, read more about it here for a breakdown on the Deluxe and Collector’s Editions.
Final Fantasy XVI launches on 22 June 2023 exclusively for PS5.
