Final Fantasy XVI How Long Does it Take to Beat Main Story Side Quests

Final Fantasy XVI Has Sold 3 Million Copies in One Week

Square Enix has revealed that Final Fantasy XVI, the latest entry in its long-running Final Fantasy franchise, has sold 3 million copies worldwide in just one week. The numbers factored in both physical and digital sales, making it the fastest-selling PS5 exclusive to date as well as one of the fastest-selling entries in the franchise.

The official Twitter account for Final Fantasy XVI revealed the great sales numbers, made even more impressive by the fact that it only launched on one console. Square Enix previously reported concerns about the game’s sales potential after seemingly low pre-order numbers. However, opinions on the game might’ve changed thanks to the free PS5 demo that was released shortly before launch, which gave a wide audience a chance to try out the game’s gripping opening hours and decide if it was worth purchasing or not. Turns out it worked.

For comparison, Final Fantasy VII Remake managed to sell 3.5 million copies in its first three days and over five million copies by August 2020, five months after the game’s launch. Final Fantasy XVI could be on track to reach a similar sales milestone by the end of the year given its strong first week numbers.

Apart from the demo potentially contributing to the strong initial sales, Sony’s marketing and promotional videos certainly helped too. Final Fantasy XVI received several trailers over the past year alone, making appearances at most big PlayStation showcases and State of Play events.
