A demo for Final Fantasy XVI, the upcoming action-RPG from Square Enix, will be available today on PS5 ahead of the game’s launch later this month. According to Yoshida, the demo will be available today at 1am PT or 10am CAT and allows players to journey through the first two hours of the game, which consisting of the Prologue. All save data can also be carried over to the full game on 22 June. However, once players beat the Prologue, a special second “Battle Demo” will open that exclusively focuses on combat.
Final Fantasy XVI is only a couple of weeks away from launch and this demo should give fans an idea of what to expect, including the faster paced action-centric gameplay, characters and world. Square Enix’s official story description reads:
“The sun is setting upon the land of Valisthea. For centuries, people have flocked to her Mothercrystals to partake of their blessing—the abundant aether that fuels the magicks they rely upon in their everyday lives. As the aether begins to fade and the lifeless deadlands spread ever further, so too does the struggle for possession of the final flickers of the Mothers’ light grow ever more fierce. Yet amidst the gathering storm, there are those who believe that the legacy of the crystals has shaped mankind’s destiny for long enough.”
