Square Enix will reportedly release Final Fantasy XVI on Xbox in spring 2025. The game originally launched back in 2023 exclusively for PS5 before launching on PC last year. According to a known leaker, the game is finally heading to Xbox Series X/S this year.
Leaker NateTheHate, who has built a reputable track record of accurate leaks in the gaming world, claims that Square Enix will release Final Fantasy XVI on Xbox “around mid-first half of 2025” or around spring. Meanwhile, the leaker also claims that Final Fantasy VII Remake is scheduled to launch later this year on Xbox, with Final Fantasy VII Rebirth planned for Microsoft’s console in 2026 – both titles are only available on PlayStation and PC at the time of writing.
To address the elephant in the room, there doesn’t seem to be plans in place to port Final Fantasy XVI to the Nintendo Switch 2 as Square Enix apparently wants to focus on the Final Fantasy VII Remake projects for Xbox first. However, there’s a good chance that we’ll see all of these games eventually make their way to the Switch 2, should Square Enix decide to port them.
According to NateTheHate, Final Fantasy 16 will be announced/released on Xbox shortly—not in the near future, but by/around the mid-first half of 2025 (around spring).
FF7 Remake is scheduled for later this year, and FF Rebirth for 2026.

Final Fantasy XVI is the sixteenth mainline entry in the long-running RPG franchise. It launched to positive reviews overall and went on to be nominated for several awards at The Game Awards in 2023 including Best RPG, Best Narrative and Best Performance (for Ben Starr as protagonist Clive Rosfield). It ended up winning Best Score/Music.
As with all rumours and reports, take this with a pinch of salt until we get confirmation from Square Enix.
