First Diablo 4 Expansion Name and Details Spotted in Game Files

Dataminers have spotted the potential name of the first Diablo 4 expansion in the latest test build of the game. An alpha build of the game’s version 2.0 went live for private testing and Russian YouTuber YbuBaKa found a bunch of information detailing the future of the game.

According to new information, the first Diablo 4 expansion is called Lord of Hatred and will feature a story around the demon Mephisto. The datamine also reveals that Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred will come with a new class called the Spiritborn.

YbuBaKa says he also spotted information regarding a mercenary system in the game’s talent tree. There’s also reference to the game’s Raid system. However, further details on how Raids will work is unclear at this time.

Lastly, new games files related to corrupt runestones were spotted in the Diablo 4 private test build. Fans believe this content is related to the upcoming Diablo 4 Season 3 content. The season will revolve around corruption.

We know that Blizzard plans on releasing two expansion for Diablo 4. We also know that the cliffhanger ending hinted at a Lord of Hatred campaign. The new Spiritborn class also sounds interesting. While fans believed tha Paladin would be the first additional class, seen as the skills are already in the game, this doesn’t seem to be the case.

Of course, we likely won’t see the Diablo 4 expansion until sometime in 2024 or even later. With BlizzCon taking place in early November, Blizzard will likely details all the news during the opening ceremony.
