First iPhone 11 Pro Max Teardown Reveals 25% Bigger Battery

During the iPhone 11 reveal event last week, Apple announced the three new flagship phones would be boasting much bigger batteries than that of the Xs and Xs Max. While Apple never gives out any details such as what mAh the batteries are, the first teardown of the iPhone 11 has revealed the battery is indeed 25% larger in capacity.

The first teardown was put together by DChannel on YouTube and reveals the inner workings of the 11 Pro Max. According to the video, the Max device has a 15.04 watt-hour battery compared to the 12.06 found on the iPhone Xs Max.

Apple claims the 11 Pro Max will boast up to five hours more usage than the Xs Max and the iPhone 11 Pro, 4 hours more than the Xs. However, even with the bigger battery in the device, much of the extended battery life could come from the new Apple A13 Bionic Chip which Apple claims is the most power-efficient they have ever made.

The teardown also revealed the new iPhone 11 battery design in the new iPhone range. In the X and Xs iPhone, Apple used a linked “L-shape” battery to make the most use of the space inside the device. Now, the batter is no longer linked instead, it is fused together. It might be a small improvement but the overall extended battery life could be a result of the new shape, A13 Bionic Chip and of course, the larger watt-hour battery size.
