Real PS5 Two Fans Photos PlayStation 5 Console Sharing Chat party PlayStation 5 Sony

First Real PS5 Photos Appear Online – Here’s How The Base Stand Works

We know the PS5 is real but up to now all we have seen are rendered shots of the upcoming console. Sony has not even officially shared the back of the device yet or revealed what power cord the PlayStation 5 uses. Thankfully, the first real photos of the console have appeared online.

We finally have a glimpse at the actual console including how the base works when it is laying flat on your counter. These photos arrive thanks to Taiwan’s National Communications Commission.

The first photo which you can see down below is the back of the PS5 console. As you can see, there are two USB Gen 2 ports followed by a Gigabit Ethernet port, HDMI 2.1 and the power port. No optical port. Thankfully, the PlayStation 5 uses a generic figure-8 power cord unlike most of Sony’s release consoles which used the kettle plug. There’s also a Kensington Lock on the left-hand side for those who are wondering what that port is.

The photo also reveals how the base is going to work. We know that every PlayStation 5 console includes a base in the box. It seems this black object will clip onto the back of the console to keep it standing off the ground. From the front, which we have covered in the past, the console looks as if it is floating off the ground. We know how it happens. We also know gamers use the base to stand the console upright too. While the photo is a bit blurry, you can see on the right-hand side there seem to be two slots where this base will clip into when standing the device upright.

Then we have the next photo down below. This does not reveal much other than a few vents. However, there seems to be a peculiar button in the middle of the device. I think this is going to be the expandable slot. Inside the vents, you can see a grey box which could be where you will slide your extra NVMe SSDs into. However, Sony has yet to confirm how and where users can slot extra storage into the console. I am taking a while guess here.

The photo also includes some licensing such as DTS and Dolby Digital. Nothing new here. While it is not much, these photos are the first real look at the PS5 console.
