First Tekken 8 DLC Character is Eddy – Opening Movie Revealed

Bandai Namco Entertainment has released the opening movie for its anticipated upcoming fighter, Tekken 8, along with confirmation that the game’s first DLC character will be none other than Eddy Gordo. Tekken 8 is only two weeks away from release and the hype is mounting for what is sure to be a phenomenal fighting game.

The opening movie for Tekken 8 goes through the motion of introducing us to the game’s various characters and teasing some story elements, including the mysterious reappearance of Jun Kazama. We don’t know what role she has to play in the events of the narrative yet but it looks like the Mishima family, mainly father and son rivals Kazuya and Jin, will take the main stage. You also have other strange newcomers to the roster like Reina who might be an illegitimate child of Heihachi Mishima, since she seems to have a similar aggressive fighting style.

Eddy Gordo will be the first DLC character to be added to Tekken 8‘s post-launch roster as part of the first season’s pass. Bandai Namco plans to add a new character to the game every three months which lines up with the rollout schedule for Tekken 7 and its impressive list of DLC fighters.

In related news, Succession actor Brian Cox recently narrated a story recap video of the Tekken series in anticipation for Tekken 8. According to the game’s director Katsuhiro Harada, the free demo was responsible for driving up pre-orders.

The description of Tekken 8 reads:

“Completely redesigned character visuals. Elaborate, highly-detailed models built from the ground and high-fidelity graphics break the limits of new-generation hardware by adding a new weight and atmosphere to Tekken’s signature battles. Vivid environments and destructible stages combine to create an overwhelming sense of immersion, creating the ultimate play experience.”
