So remember the first ever Pokémon movie that released? Well, that tearjerking, action-packed animation is one of the most iconic films in history because it launched the Pokémon into the world and is partly responsible for what it is today. Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution is the CG remake of the film and the first trailer is here.
Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution will be the film we all remember from 1999 but now created in CG. Starring Misty, Ash, Pikachu, Mew and Mewtwo, the film tells the origin of Mewtwo with all its dramatic turns and Ash dying for a few seconds and being revived through the power of TEARS!

The film is being made to celebrate its 20th anniversary and does not look half bad. While it is a way off from the traditional anime style, the CG will give viewers a new visual experience. It makes sense that the Pokémon Company decided to remake this in CG as it would be too much of the same thing to develop an anime remake.
Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution is not the only Pokémon film to be released this year. We also have the awesome-looking Detective Pikachu which is out in cinemas on 9 May 2019, just two months before Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution lands in Japan on 12 July 2019.
There is no word yet when the 1999 remake will hit Western shores but the Pokémon Company will most likely release an English dubbed version within a few months. Check out the latest trailer below for the film and let us know what you think of the CG style in the comments below.
