The upcoming live-action Five Nights at Freddy’s movie based on the hugely popular indie horror games by Scott Cawthon has received a second chilling trailer ahead of its release in October. The second trailer largely focuses on the animatronics this time, introducing us to Freddy, Bonnie, Chica and Foxy as the lurking villains of the movie – with another big surprise saved for the end of the trailer.
The live-action Five Nights at Freddy’s movie stars Josh Hutcherson as Mike Schmidt, a security guard who begins working night shift at a decrepit restaurant chain called Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. However, he quickly discovers that the animatronics in the building seemingly come to life at night and it’s a battle for survival as he tries to get to the bottom of the mystery.

The first teaser for Five Nights at Freddy’s released back in May this year and gave us an idea of what to expect from the atmosphere and tone of the movie, which is sticking very close to its video game source material. Another trailer was released in June showing off more scenes revolving around the creepy animatronics. However, fans didn’t expect to see Springtrap, the suit donned by serial killer and the series’ main antagonist William Afton (Matthew Lillard), in the trailer.
Surprisingly, the end of the second trailer gives us a glimpse at Springtrap again (or likely still Spring Bonnie), this time in a much better light wielding a knife and stalking Mike. Since the movie is loosely based on the games, fans wonder how the timeline might work in the live-action outing as Springtrap technically wasn’t supposed to be around if the movie was just adapting the first game. Springtrap only appears in the third game, so we’ll just have to see how it’s explained here.
Five Nights at Freddy’s arrives in cinemas and the streaming service Peacock on 27 October 2023. Check out the brand new trailer below:
