Forspoken Square Enix Final Fantasy XVI Delay 2022

Forspoken Launch Trailer and Review Embargo Revealed

Publisher Square Enix and developer Luminous Productions have released the launch trailer for its upcoming open-world RPG, Forspoken. The short trailer gives us a glimpse at the gameplay, exploration, combat and mythical enemies we’ll encounter on our journey. In addition to the launch trailer celebrating the game’s release next week, the review embargo was also revealed for when we can expect reviews to drop.

“Lead Frey Holland on an unforgettable journey in her search for a way home after being mysteriously transported to an ancient, fantastical land,” reads the description of the latest launch trailer for Forspoken. It’s worth noting that players are still divided on the game as PlayStation’s launch trailer, at the time of writing, sits with a perfectly balanced like and dislike ratio of 1.4k each.

Forspoken officially launches on Tuesday, 24 January but don’t expect to see any reviews show up online until a day before. According to OpenCritic, the review embargo for Forspoken drops on Monday, 23 January at 6AM PST or 4PM CAT.

Games dropping review embargos a day before launch isn’t uncommon but in the case of anticipated AAA releases, it may raise some red flags. This could either mean that the studios are withholding reviews because they’re not confident in the game’s quality or simply want to keep any potential spoilers at bay. Either way, the verdict will only be out a day before the game officially arrives so we’ll have to sit tight until then.

There seems to be a low hum regarding the hype of Forspoken leading up to its release. It will certainly find some success with those that have already pre-ordered the game and have been anticipating it, but many players appear to be approaching the game with some degree of caution and hesitation. Hopefully the reviews are great and we end up with a worthy final product in the end.
