The Fortnite Account Merge feature was supposed to release last month. This feature will allow players to combine multiple console-linked accounts and they will even be able to transfer cosmetic items purchased in Battle Royale, V-Bucks, Save the World Campaign access and last, but not least, lifetime wins. Unfortunately, developer Epic games have delayed the Fortnite Account Merge feature until early 2019, so you will have to wait a little longer to merge those accounts.
Although I am sure many players want to throw all their Fortnite eggs into one basket, delaying a feature like this is probably a good thing, as Epic surely doesn’t want anything major to go wrong while players are using the Fortnite Account Merge feature or, for example, when transferring V-Bucks.
Epic has delayed this feature due to technical issues they have encountered. In a recent post, the developer explained why they decided to delay this feature:
Due to some ongoing technical concerns, we will be delaying the Account Merge feature until early next year. We want to make sure that this process is thoroughly tested and working properly before releasing it to those of you currently looking to transfer purchases from other accounts to your primary account. We’ll be sure to update you as we get closer to the release of the feature, which will include a web page on launch to help guide you through the flow!
That’s the best move Epic could have made with a feature such as this one as it does need to work perfectly before they release it into the wild. At the time of writing, no new release date is known for the Fortnite Account Merge feature except for that it will likely release quite early next year.
