Fortnite Could Be Getting a 5v5 First-Person Shooter Mode

Epic Games is reportedly testing a new 5v5 first-person shooter mode for its popular battle royale game, Fortnite. This kind of gameplay style is already occupied by several notable titles like Overwatch, Valorant and Counter-Strike, though it seems like Epic Games wants to leverage Fortnite‘s booming popularity by introducing a new way to experience PvP.

As reported by reliable Fortnite leaker ShiinaBR, Epic Games is apparently in the testing phase for a new 5v5 first-person shooter mode in Fortnite. The details are quite murky for the time being. Not much was shared other than the fact that Epic was testing the new mode, which could land sometime in 2025 if it goes through. Of course, not all of Fortnite‘s ideas have made it past the testing phase so we’ll have to wait and see if this one sticks the landing.

The other major concern is how well it would be received and perform. As it stands, the biggest 5v5 multiplayer titles like Overwatch and Valorant already have a firm grip on mainstream players with sizeable player bases. Introducing a new 5v5 first-person shooter mode to the game will certainly give players more variety, at least.

In other news, Fortnite could be getting crossovers with Tekken and Yakuza. According to a recent report from Shpeshal Nick, these franchises were mentioned to him earlier this year. He speculates that it will be added as part of the new season, so it won’t be long before players will get the chance to play with Jin Kazama or Kiryu skins. In case you missed it, The Game Awards is also hosting its own special event in Fortnite where players can vote for the year’s best maps.
