Epic Games is kicking off the new year with a bang and while millions of gamers are enjoying the Ice Storm event right now, watching pros fight it out for a massive prize pool is something esports fans will absolutely love. Enter the Fortnite Secret Skirmish tournament, boasting a $500,000 prize pool. That’s nearly R7 million prize money up for grabs in this special invitational tournament.

The Fortnite Secret Skirmish tournament will take place on 14 and 15 February where you will see the top open Fortnite competition players fight it out for their share of the prize pool. Specific prize distribution for the Fortnite Secret Skirmish is still unknown. Epic notes that this tournament will help them to prepare for Fortnite World Cup taking place later this year.
I, for one, love watching all manner of esports tournaments since I’m not good enough to actually compete in one myself. With excellent broadcast talent and the fast-paced nature of Fortnite, as well as so much money on the line, this could be something very entertaining to watch. Happy New Year! We’re breaking into 2019 with a special invitational competition called the Secret Skirmish. Don’t tell anyone, but we’ll be awarding $500,000 in prize money for this 2-day event. This invitational will include top players from each Open Fortnite competition held so far.
Rumor has it that the event will be held in a classified, undisclosed testing facility on February 14th and 15th. Each match will be transmitted to our official channels. You can expect the same high-powered matches as TwitchCon and PAX, but also expect us to explore additional… operations… during the two days of competition. Keep a close eye on upcoming announcements as we uncover more details for this event.
This event will covertly be used to better prepare our broadcast team for the upcoming Fortnite World Cup later this year. We’re incredibly excited to share more details soon on how you can participate in the Fortnite World Cup.
