Forza Horizon 6 Might Already be in Development

Forza Horizon 5 from developer Playground Games was released only last year to critical acclaim, but it looks like they might already be pushing forward with a new entry. According to new job listings, it seems like Forza Horizon 6 is in development as they’re seeking talent to join the Forza Horizon team for work on a new AAA title.

As spotted by Twitter user IdleSloth, a recent Playground Games job listing seeking a level designer to join the Forza Horizon team suggests that they’re already developing Forza Horizon 6. While some have speculated that it’s meant for Forza Horizon 5 DLC, the listing clearly mentions their “next AAA title.”

Playground Games only recently released Forza Horizon 5 which will likely be updated with new content until the launch of the next game. This also lines up with their release cycle in which a new Horizon game is released every two years, setting the next entry up for a possible 2023 release.

However, this might be set back by the development of the Fable reboot which Playground Games is currently working on. We don’t have any idea when the anticipated RPG might release, but it’s safe to say that Playground has its hands quite full for the next few years.

Meanwhile, Turn10 is working on the next entry in the Forza Motorsport series which was previously announced back in 2020. Xbox hasn’t provided any major updates on the racing game since its reveal, though that might change in the upcoming Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase scheduled to happen on 12 June.

It’s possible that we’ll also see new footage of Playground’s Fable reboot at the show, which received its first trailer last year. According to a former game designer who worked at studios such as Ninja Theory, the Fable reboot might be taking longer in development due to Playground’s lack of experience making RPGs. We’ll know for certain next month.

Forza Horizon 5 is currently available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
