Forza Motorsport Release Seemingly Slipped to Q3 2023

Developer Turn 10 Studios recently presented a gameplay showcase into its upcoming racing game, Forza Motorsport, at the Xbox Developer Direct event. Some new information was revealed, including South Africa’s Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit appearing in the title, but one detail that managed to slip by fans was its delay. Microsoft previously revealed that it would release in spring 2023, but it now looks like that date has been pushed back to Q3 2023.

Apart from Xbox’s description on the latest Forza Motorsport showcase clearly stating that the game will now launch later this year, journalist and insider Jeff Grubb has said that it has slipped to the second half of the year and will now launch in Q3, which is between July and September.

It’s unclear why this slight delay happened but Turn 10 Studios might need a bit more time in development. Visually, it’s one of the most impressive games coming to Xbox Series X/S (as well as PC) and could be the flagship racing game of Xbox’s current-gen console. The developers would want that extra time to make sure that it’s polished and ready for launch.

Microsoft has yet to reveal an official release date for the anticipated racing game but it’s possible that we’ll get one at Xbox’s E3 show this year, which takes place in June.

Forza Motorsport is shaping up to a massive title, promising over 500 cars for players to drive across 20 locations from around the world. Meanwhile, Forza Horizon developer Playground Games has presumably shifted its attention to the development of the Fable reboot which has yet to see a proper gameplay showcase beyond a cinematic reveal trailer.

Forza Motorsport will launch in the second half of 2023 for Xbox Series X/S and PC. It will also be available day one on Xbox Game Pass.
