The first crossover for Helldivers 2 dropped yesterday in the form of a Killzone pack. The pack is priced at $20. While this doesn’t seem so bad for a DLC pack, the fact that it contains only a single character skin is daylight robbery. To make matters worse, Sony was charging players an additional $10 for the gun and other items. You would have to fork out $40+ to get the entire set.
Fans voiced their concerns over the cheeky price point for the DLC. Many of them say that even the base $20 for the armour set is ridiculous. As it stands, the DLC is the most expensive we have seen in the game yet. Fans were also given only a limited time to purchase them due to the rotation of seasonal items in the store.
After making enough noise over the pricing and the limited-timed offer, Arrowhead Studios decided to give players the next Killzone DLC for free.
While the studio hasn’t confirmed whether or not future collaboration DLC will come in cheaper than this crazy pack, at least the devs have been made aware of the unwanted price tag. In a post on social media, the Helldivers 2 account shared the news saying:
Seasons greetings, Helldivers!
As Helldivers x Killzone was our first crossover offering, we’ve been listening to the response, and the feedback we’ve received from our community surveys.

So not only is the next pack going to be free, the studio will also find a way to make existing packs available permanently.
The good news is that you don’t need to own the existing overpriced Killzone DLC to grab this free W.A.S.P. pack. It is being given out to all players. However, if you do want the previous pack, you’ll need to fork out the money, and it is not being discounted either.
Hopefully, this will make Arrowhead relook at its pricing decisions in the future. These collaborations are cool and all, but just because you slap some forgotten PlayStation franchise into a game doesn’t mean players are going to pay through their teeth to buy it. It is forgotten for a reason.
