Season 2 of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, the hugely popular anime that debuted in 2023, will officially arrive in January 2026 after months of speculation and waiting. The anime will continue to adapt the ongoing manga series by Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe.
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End first aired in September 2023, quickly gaining popularity due to its unique storytelling and excellent pilot episode. The show follows a wandering elf mage named Frieren in a fantasy world who is trying to reach a land of souls in order to reunite with Himmel the Hero, a former member of her adventuring party that went on to slay the Demon King ages ago. Unlike humans, though, Frieren is an elf who can live for hundreds, if not thousands of years, meaning it’s hard for her to form connections with people.
As reported by Anime News Network, season 2 of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End has been confirmed to air in January 2026, over two years after the first season’s premiere. It will once again be animated by Madhouse.
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is currently the highest-rated anime of all time on MyAnimeList. The manga’s description reads:
“The adventure is over but life goes on for an elf mage just beginning to learn what living is all about. Elf mage Frieren and her courageous fellow adventurers have defeated the Demon King and brought peace to the land. But Frieren will long outlive the rest of her former party. How will she come to understand what life means to the people around her? Decades after their victory, the funeral of one her friends confronts Frieren with her own near immortality.
