10:10 Games has shared the official story trailer for Funko Fusion ahead of the game’s launch on 13 September. If you don’t know, Funko Fusion is a sort of love letter to the Funko series but in video game form. It includes over 60 playable characters from various franchises as players use them to try and stop a villain named Eddy from obtaining ultimate power.
In the trailer, Eddy is described as “evil incarnate” and with the power of Freddy’s Crown, the bad guy travels to various worlds and distorts them into his own image. These worlds are based on the popular franchises Funko has covered over the years with its collectables.
Eddy, driven by his ambition for complete domination, possesses the dark power to possess the inhabitants of Funko Fusion’s pop culture-inspired worlds. He constructs an army of corrupted characters, each inspired by renowned franchises such as Jurassic World, Back to the Future, The Thing, Chucky, and many more.
As players engage in the struggle against Eddy’s forces, they can assemble their own team of playable heroes, each equipped with specialized tools that can be utilized effectively in both combat and puzzle-solving scenarios.
Eddy is also voiced by Clancy Brown who is known for his work on The Shawshank Redemption, Highlander, Invincible, Detroit: Become Human.
Funko Fusion is set to launch on 13 September for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. The PS4 and Nintendo Switch versions will then launch on 15 November. The game has a special pre-order bonus which includes both Michonne and Rick from The Walking Dead as playable Funkos.
Funko also plans to release a lineup of Funko Fusion Funko Pop! figures based on select characters from the video game. Purchasing these collectables will grant players special costumes in-game. They are unlocked by redeeming codes included in the boxes.
Mecha Freddy and so-called “Variant” outfits for Funko fans, such as the Slime Pit variant for He-Man are a few. This content is in addition to the over 60 characters and their range of Variant outfits already included in Funko Fusion.
