The release of the final season of Game of Thrones is one of the most anticipated moments in TV at the moment. Everyone is dying to find out what happens in Game of Thrones season 8, with the director of some of the episodes of the final season promising that “the fans will not be let down“. He went on to proclaim that fans can expect a lot of firsts in Game of Thrones season 8.

Game of Thrones season 8 took 10 months to film only 6 episodes, so each episode is expected to be bigger than before. Director of some of the episodes, David Nutter, explained that he had a very diverse experience filming for Game of Thrones season 8.

There’s the funniest sequence I’ve ever shot on this show, the most emotional and compelling scene I’ve ever shot, and there’s one scene where there’s so many [major characters] together it feels like you’re watching a superhero movie.

He also filmed an episode which features The Great Battle of Winterfell, which is apparently the longest consecutive battle sequence ever filmed. The episode also features the most major characters together since the show debuted back in 2011.

Game of Thrones Season 8

The episode will feature fan favourites who’ve made it all the way to Game of Thrones season 8 (which isn’t a small feat), like Jon Snow (portrayed by Kit Harington), Daenerys Targaryen (portrayed by Emilia Clarke), Tyrion Lannister (portrayed by Peter Dinklage), Arya Stark (portrayed by Maisie Williams), Sansa Stark (portrayed by Sophie Turner), and Brienne of Tarth (portrayed by Gwendoline Christie) who are battling it out against the Night King and his army of White Walkers.

This big battle is also the battle debut of Arya Stark, who, it feels like, has been training for this moment for all seven previous seasons. The actress, Maisie Williams, experienced first hand how big this battle was.

But nothing can prepare you for how physically draining it is. It’s night after night, and again and again, and it just doesn’t stop. You can’t get sick, and you have to look out for yourself because there’s so much to do that nobody else can do… there are moments you’re just broken as a human and just want to cry.

This big battle is only part of the action and excitement that’s sure to come when Game of Thrones airs on 14 April 2019.
