Gamescom Opening Night Live 2024 – When and Where to Watch

Gamescom Opening Night Live 2024, the kick-off show to the annual Gamescom event that takes place in Germany each year, is only a day away and hype is slowly building up. Host Geoff Keighley says viewers can expect new game announcements this year including closer looks at games like Indiana Jones and The Great Circle, Monster Hunter Wilds and more. Here’s when and where to watch the kick-off event and what to expect.

Last week, Geoff Keighley set some expectations by announcing a list of games that will be showcased during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2024. These include Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Marvel Rivals, Dune Awakening, Monster Hunter Wilds, Indiana Jones and The Great Circle and Sid Meier’s Civilization VII. Fans can also expect the first look at the new game from Tarsier Studios, the developer behind Little Nightmares.

When to Watch

Gamescom Opening Night Live will air tomorrow, 20 August at 11AM PT / 2PM ET / 8PM CEST or 8PM SAST. Thanks to the European time zones, South African viewers won’t have to stay up too late to catch the event. It’s unknown how long the show will run for but judging by last year’s opening ceremony, you can probably expect it to clock in at around two hours.

Where to Watch

Gamescom Opening Night Live can be livestreamed via the official YouTube channel for The Game Awards. We’ve also embedded the livestream video below which is currently counting down to the event, so you’ll be able to easily return here when the time comes.

As for what to expect, apart from the aforementioned list of games that Keighley confirmed would be shown, there’s a lot of mystery surrounding what else could be announced or showcased. Keighley recently retweeted an image for Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, suggesting that we might get another look at the sequel during the show.
