Gears of War E-Day Co-Developed People Can Fly The Coalition

Gears of War: E-Day is Being Co-Developed by People Can Fly

Last year during the Xbox Games Showcase, developer The Coalition officially announced Gears of War: E-Day, a prequel to the first game set in the early days of the Locust invasion on Emergence Day. The tone and atmosphere of the game suggests that it’s taking a turn into horror territory. To help realise this vision, The Coalition has enlisted the help of long-time support studio People Can Fly to co-develop the game.

People Can Fly is best known for developing Bulletstorm, Outriders and Painkiller, though it also served as a support studio on the development of the first three Gears of War games. The studio eventually became the sole developer of the spin-off Gears of War: Judgment. It’s now returning alongside The Coalition to assist in the development of Gears of War: E-Day, which unfortunately doesn’t have a release date yet.

People Can Fly CEO Sebastian Wojciechowski stated, “Returning to collaborate on the next chapter of this legendary saga is both a privilege and an exciting opportunity to build upon the intense, visceral action and rich storytelling that fans have come to love. We are deeply grateful for our partners’ trust and support on this journey.”

Mike Crump, studio head at The Coalition, expressed his excitement working with People Can Fly again, stating:

“Gears of War: E-Day is not just our next major game; it’s a return to what makes Gears of War games special and authentic. We’re pleased to be partnering with the talented folks at People Can Fly who have been a part of our franchise’s legacy for so long.”

People Can Fly development director Guillaume Barry added:

“Our team at People Can Fly, made up of dedicated Gears of War fans, is pouring everything we have into creating an experience that will exceed expectations. While we can’t share more just yet, we’re eager for the day when we can show all the exciting things we’ve been working on.”
