Gears of War Reloaded PS5 Xbox Series PC August

Gears of War: Reloaded Announced – Also Coming to PS5 This August

Microsoft has officially announced Gears of War: Reloaded, a remaster of the first Gears of War game, for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. This is the first time that the Gears of War series will release on PlayStation as the franchise has always been exclusive to Xbox, showing Microsoft’s commitment to bring its biggest first-party IPs over to other platforms.

Gears of War: Reloaded will remaster the very first game in the series with 4K resolution, 60FPS support, cross-progression and cross-play for its multiplayer. Thanks to the added power of current-gen consoles, there will be no loading screens at all while playing the main campaign. Additionally, it will launch for only $40 and also release day one on Xbox Game Pass, developed by The Coalition in partnership with Sumo Interactive and Disbelief.

The remaster will include HDR, VRR and 4K assets and remastered textures with improved shadows, reflections and anti-aliasing. All multiplayer maps and modes will be included as well. Owners of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition will receive a free upgrade to Reloaded.

The description provided by Xbox reads:

“Gears of War: Reloaded includes the full breadth of content from the Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, delivering the most complete version of the original game to date. Players will gain immediate access to all post-launch downloadable content at no additional cost — this includes the bonus Campaign act, all multiplayer maps and modes, and a full roster of classic characters and cosmetics unlockable through progression.”

Xbox provided a list of what players can expect:

  • 4K resolution
  • 60 FPS in Campaign
  • 120 FPS in Multiplayer
  • High Dynamic Range (HDR)
  • Dolby Vision & 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos
  • 7.1.4 3D Spatial Audio
  • Variable Refresh Rate (VRR)
  • 4K assets and remastered textures
  • Enhanced post-processing visual effects
  • Improved shadows and reflections
  • Super resolution with improved anti-aliasing
  • Zero loading screens during Campaign

The Coalition is currently working on Gears of War: E-Day with Outriders studio People Can Fly. It will be a prequel to the first game set on Emergence Day. There’s no word yet if this will also release on PS5.

Gears of War: Reloaded launches this August.
