Genshin Impact Review Bombed Over Anniversary Event

Players are review bombing Genshin Impact as the free-to-play gacha game celebrates its first anniversary. Players are targeting the game over the poor rewards given out during the current event saying that in comparison to other games on the market, miHoYo has not been generous at all.

Genshin Impact players already began complaining back in August when the anniversary rewards leaked online. They claim that the free items did not meet their expectations especially due to the amount of time and money they have spent on the game over the past year.

Players have now targetted the Genshin Impact mobile listings on the App Store and Google Play Store. The mobile version is currently sitting on 4.7 on Apple’s platform. However, the review bombing has managed to damage the Google Play rating dropping it down to 2.2/5. This rating has dropped from 4.1/5 since last week.

The biggest issue surrounding the Genshin Impact anniversary event seems to relate to the lack of rewards given out to players. Some players claim they have been playing the game for a full year and only received a handful of Primogems as a thank you. Primogems are an in-game currency used to purchase wishes that contain gear, items and possible characters.

Naturally, hardcore players of Genshin Impact were hoping that miHoYo would reward them with a free 5-star character. The studio recently gave away another 5-star character named Aloy in an exclusive partnership with PlayStation. Other gacha games often celebrate anniversary events with free character giveaways. However, instead of offering players a character, miHoYo gave them Primogems with a chance of getting one through the game’s Constellation feature.

Keep in mind that this Constellation feature is a loot-box based system so the drop rates for characters are extremely low. Even lower for 5-star ones. Genshin Impact also limits the 5-star characters to specific banners meaning the chances of getting the one you want is even lower than ever.

Looking past the lack of free character in the Genshin Impact anniversary event, players simply wanted more. They expected a grander event given how much time they have invested in the game since launch.
