In case you care, Geoff Keighley has announced that he has dropped out of E3 2020 and will not be attending the expo for the first time in 25 years. Geoff has been a long-time presenter and attendee of the event covering the expo and hosting panels and reveals at the E3 Coliseum. For the past 25 years, I have attended every Electronic Entertainment Expo. Covering, hosting, and sharing E3 has been a highlight of my year, not to mention a defining part of my career.I’ve debated what to say about E3 2020. While I want to support the developers who will showcase their work, I also need to be open and honest with you, the fans, about precisely what to expect from me.
I have made the difficult decision to decline to produce E3 Coliseum. For the first time in 25 years, I will not be participating in E3. I look forward to supporting the industry in other ways and at other events in the future.

The future of E3 is looking a little grim right now. Earlier this year, Sony announced they too would not be at E3 2020 and while their announcement is a lot more important than Geoff Keighley, guests seem to be dropping out of the expo quite often. E3 has struggled to show its relevance in an ever-changing media landscape and the personal data breach of 2019 did nothing to help the show either.
Console makers and developers prefer to host private events now with less cost and preparation than it takes to get to the show. It is sad because we attend E3 every year and it is our highlight trip of the year. Hopefully, the expo can survive this change in some way and for those who booked tickets to fly all the way to LA to see Geoff Keighley, we are sorry :P.
